How to Connect an Offline Brother Printer

Sometimes while trying to print through your brother printer you get an error message stating brother printer offline.This turns into a serious situation and needs some troubleshooting. In case,your using Windows 7 operating system you get built-in toggle features between offline and onlinemodes. However in case it doesn’t resolve the problem or you are using any other operating system then you need to follow some advance troubleshooting steps.

Troubleshooting steps

Begin with checking the power status of the machine

As the thumb rule of troubleshooting always begin by checking the power connection. 

• Start resolving the printer offline brother issue by checking whether the printer is in sleep mode or not
• In case the power is on check the power outlet sockets to see whether it’s properly plugged in or not
• Note that there could be some associated hardware problems.  Another very common issue with printers or HP is reading error messages like HP printer paper jam or ink jam etc.
• In case you are not receiving any error messages check whether the printer is properly connected to your computer or not.
• In case you are using USB cable make sure that the correct ports are attached on both the ends
• try connecting your printer directly to the device instead of using any third party hub
• In case you are using any Ethernet cable make sure the cable port is properly connected to the printer and the access point of routers
• Open the network configuration page to check the proper IP address

Setting the default printer

• Sometimes of printer offline issue occurs because your computer is not connected to the default printer you are trying to print from
• To check open control panel
• Go to option hardware and sounds
• Next go to option devices and printers
• Right click on the brother printers icon
• Select the machine as default printer

Steps to delete all previous print jobs from device and printers window

• Begin with right clicking on the brothers printer machine icon
• Go to option to see what's printing
• Go to the option printer
• Click on cancel all document option
• Note that if cancel all document option is greyed or lightened out
• Go to the administrator option
• Enter the password and click yes
• Now you can cancel all documents

Steps to change your printer status from offline to online

Very common reason of wireless brother printer not printing is the printer status being offline. To change for the given steps

• Right click on the brother machine icon
• Go to see what's printing option
• Next go to printer
• Now click to remove the check mark on the checkbox saying use printer offline
• Note that if the use printer offline option is greyed out then go via administrator password 
• Enter the password, click ok, and uncheck the use printer offline checkbox
• In case your printer status is paused follow the above mentioned steps and go to the option printer
• From there click to uncheck the pause printing checkbox.
• Again if the checkbox is greyed out go for the administrator option
